Mustangs fall to Wayne, 34-22

PENN YAN—The Penn Yan varsity football team lost to Wayne, Friday, Sept. 17.
The final score was 34-22.  Penn Yan’s touchdowns came from Adam Stork, Brendan Bolger, and Brett McMichael.
Stork also had 17 carries for 11 yards.  Bolger had eight carries for 34 yards.  McMichael had one carry for 15 yards.  Coach Bill LaRock said the team’s leading receiver was Colby Treat with two carries for 45 yards.
Bolger also had nine complete passes, 27 attempts, one interception, and 167 yards.  Defensively, Dan Guererri had 15 unassisted tackles, four assisted tackles, and one sack.  John Martisch also had 15 tackles.
“At the beginning (Wayne) had us by the heels,” LaRock said.
He explained for Penn Yan, players dropped the ball and plays just didn’t click.  LaRock said Wayne took advantage of that and scored 28 of their points.  By halftime, he explained Penn Yan “regrouped and said ‘we’re going to play some football.’”
Despite the loss, LaRock added he was finally seeing the receivers being more aggressive and making more catches.
