PENN YAN—The Penn Yan boys varsity basketball team lost to Bath, 62-55, after having the lead halfway through the night.The game, Saturday, Jan. 16, was also the first in Penn Yan Academy's new gym. Coach Jay Hollister said after having a four point lead at half time, Penn Yan and Bath tied at the end of the third quarter. From there though, Hollister said two Bath players scored enough points to take the lead with three minutes left on the clock.
"We never recovered from it," he said.Miles Volz was Penn Yan's highest scorer, with 17 points. He was followed closely by Jimmy Burdett, who scored 16 points.
The boys basketball team also lost to Palmyra Macedon, 62-35, the night before at an away game. Hollister said the team started out behind and stayed that way throughout the game. He added that they had good hustle, though it wasn't constructive enough.
Anthony Lupino was the Mustangs' highest scorer that night with 11 points.
