PENN YAN—The Penn Yan boys varsity basketball team lost to Midlakes, 80-64, in a home game Tuesday, Feb. 9.
The Mustangs kept the score close throughout the first half of the game. By the end of the second quarter, the two teams were almost tied at 35-34, with Midlakes ahead by one point. However, in the second half of the game, the Screaming Eagles took the lead.
Anthony Luppino scored the most for Penn Yan, with 14 points. Myles Volz was next with 13. This included three three-point shots. James Burdette and Dylan Force followed with 10 points each.
The Mustangs were 12-17 at the free throw line. Penn Yan also managed to score four three-point shots in the final quarter. Two were by Force, and the other two were by Cody Richardson and Dakota Denison.
The boys basketball team plays next against Palmyra Macedon, Feb. 12.
