Newark tops Penn Yan baseball

PENN YAN—The Penn Yan varsity baseball team fell to Newark, 5-4, on Friday, May 11.
Hunter Hey had three singles and two RBIs. Penn Yan had the lead early in the game, but Newark tied the goal 4-4, by the fifth inning. The Mustangs also had eight errors.
With the loss, Penn Yan's record is now 11-4. Coach Marty Olmstead said that they are still the number one seed in their class. However, he added that the Mustangs will play Geneva and Wayne in the coming week before sectionals start the week after that. Penn Yan lost games to both Wayne and Geneva earlier this season. Olmstead said the team is looking forward to sectionals, but looking at the May 11 game added "you can't win a game with eight errors."
