SCHUYLER COUNTY--The Schuyler County legislature held their regular meeting, Monday, Dec. 10 at the legislative chambers in the county office building.
All resolutions were approved at the meeting. This included a change order in the amount of $10,763.19 for the North L'Hommedieu Street bridge replacement project. The extra funds covered additional concrete around and under the new footers and to repair the creek bank erosion from the Aug. 14, 2018 flood event. The total cost is now $1,027,239.19.
The resolution also updated the anticipated completion date. The bridge was available to motorists Thursday, Dec. 6.
Legislator Jim Howell reported, "Residents in district four are certainly very pleased that the job has been successful."
Chairman Dennis Fagan gave an update on the sales tax revenue collected so far this year, saying, "Year-to-date, I'm happy to announce we are $720,000 above last year." He continued, "It looks like we will end up somewhere around 11.5 million dollars...I don't believe I've ever seen it this high for a one year comparison over the previous year."
The legislature also set the final meeting of the year and organization meeting for 2019. The final meeting will be Thursday, Dec. 27, at 9 a.m. in the legislative chambers. The organizational meeting will also be in the chambers at 9 a.m. but on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
