Odessa beats Elmira, Spencer-VanEtten

ODESSA—The Odessa-Montour varsity track and field teams faced Elmira Notre Dame and Spencer-VanEtten, Tuesday, April 6.
O-M's girls track team beat Spencer, 107-30, and Notre Dame, 101-39.  The boys track team beat Spencer 67-66, and Notre Dame, 85 2/3-40 1/3.
The Indians' Ashley Bryington took first in the 100 meter hurdles, in 18.1 seconds, and the 400 meter hurdles, 1:15.  Michelle Melanson placed at the top of the 100 meter, in 13.4, and the 400 meter, in 1:05.1.  Beth Smith placed first in the 800 meter, with 2:41.6.  Haley Searles won first in the 3000 meter, with 12:54.9.
Brittany VanAmburg won the pole vault, with seven feet.  Erin Terry placed first in the long jump.  Rebecca Zafonte took first in the triple jump, with 27'10 1/2''.
The Indians also took first in the 4x800 (Terry, Smith, Malissa Richards, and VanAmburg) and 4x400 relays (Melanson, Smith, Richards, and Terry).
Coach Burton Brewster said it was a good event for the girls team.
For the boys track team, Joe Markley took first in both the high jump and the 500 meter.  Morgan Shutter also claimed first in the 400 meter.  Martin Eccleston took first in the pole vault.
