Frame says state aid, mandates are problematic ODESSA—Odessa-Montour Superintendent Jim Frame presented the school board of education with background budget information concerning state funding at the Thursday, Feb. 14, board meeting. Frame explained the information comes from Dr. Rick Timbs, executive director of the Statewide School Finance Consortium. He said the Feb. 12 report provides data and analysis in “extensive detail.” Frame said the packet includes information on the state withholding aid to schools. “It will blow your mind,” added Frame. “We’re operating on funding levels from 2007 and operating costs increase every year.” Read More ... Odessa student: Overcomes challenges and helps others ODESSA-MONTOUR—For three years, student Ashton Furney was placed in BOCES’ special education program. Now as a freshman at Odessa-Montour, he no longer needs the assistance. Furney even helps middle school students at the BASE (Boosting After School Experiences) Camp program. Roni Lewis, director of special programs, explained it is a misnomer that a student can never leave the special education program. Furney said as a sixth grader he was a troublemaker. Read More ... Odessa budget is $656K short ODESSA—The Odessa-Montour Central School District board of education was presented with the preliminary budget figures for the upcoming 2013-14 school year, Thursday, Jan. 24. Superintendent Jim Frame explained the district is starting the process with a $656,000 budget gap between costs and expected revenue. He said the figures were calculated using Gov. Engineers propose wetland treatment for Odessa ODESSA—Hunt Engineers suggested the village of Odessa implement both a constructed wetland for wastewater treatment and an effluent collection system as a sewer district, Monday, Dec. 17. Frame: 'Don’t bow to pressure from other districts' ODESSA—The Odessa-Montour school board workshop meeting held Thursday, Oct. 25, included some heated discussion about shared services, merging, consolidation, and budget expenses. The workshop was scheduled to discuss long-range planning. Superintendent Jim Frame read a prepared statement before the board started open discussion.
