ITHACA—Odessa-Montour’s girls varsity soccer team fell to Marathon, 6-2, in Ithaca, Saturday, Oct. 23. The two were facing off to claim the Interscholastic Athletic Conference Small Schools Championship crown for girls soccer. Leading up to the game, Odessa was the south schools winner and Marathon was the north winner. Only Marathon scored in the first half of the game, leading by two goals. The Indians came back in the second half, ready to play. However, within the first two minutes Marathon had scored twice more. Michelle Melanson scored Odessa’s first goal, unassisted. Marathon followed with another goal. Odessa’s second goal then came from Jocelyn Garrison off of a penalty kick. Marathon made the final goal about halfway through the second half.
