ODESSA—The Odessa-Montour girls varsity basketball team beat Candor, 52-26, in a home game, Wednesday, Dec. 15. At the end of halftime, Odessa had twice as many points as Candor with 28-14. Coach Greg Gavich said the team "had a nice run in the second half thanks to our defense forcing some turnovers" which became "easy baskets." Michelle Melanson led with 19 points and five rebounds. Jocelyn Garrison was next with 14 points.
Gavich said it was a "great all-around game from our point guard, Katie Ray." She had four points, eight steals, and nine assists. Taylor Thoman had six points, and Taylor Carey had four. Allison Stamp contributed two points and 10 rebounds. Ashley McClean also had two points and Rebecca Zafonte had one point to round out the scoring. Odessa's record is now 4-0.
