Odessa girls take division crown

ODESSA—The Odessa-Montour girls varsity soccer team cinched the IAC Small Schools South Division Championship with a Tuesday, Oct. 5, win against Newfield.
The final score was 3-1.  Odessa’s record is now 9-3, with only three more games left in the regular season.  Coach Burton Brewster said this is the first time in O-M’s history the girls won the division title.
Jocelyn Garrison scored all three goals for the Indians.  Michelle Melanson assisted on two of the goals, both from corner kicks.  Odessa had a total of three corner kicks and 12 shots on Newfield’s goal.
“It looked like they were playing for the championship, and they were,” said Brewster.  He added, Odessa “controlled the ball most of the time.”
