Meeting:  The Odessa-Montour school board met Thursday, May 14 for 45 minutes.
Attendance:  All board members were present.  There were two members of the public in the audience.
Action:  The board approved changing the fourth grade social studies textbook.  Principal Tim Young said the fourth grade teachers requested it.
• The board accepted an increase in the Van Buskirk Memorial award for students from $100 to $500.  Superintendent Jim Frame read a letter from Dolores Van Buskirk saying the award has increased because when it was established 50 years ago, $100 was a lot of money.
• The 2007-08 internal audit of fixed assets done by the Tompkins-Seneca-Tioga BOCES was approved.
Discussion without action:  Frame reported that the school has been interviewing candidates for the B.C. Cate principal position.  He said the candidates would be meeting educators and the board of education this week.  Current B.C. Cate Principal Greg Conlon said he has been visiting the middle/high school in preparation for his move over there.
• Sandy Young and Tim Young gave reports on their departments, special education and elementary school respectively, based on the New York state report cards.
• Conlon said he and Young are working on an outreach program for parents about violence.  It will be held June 4 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.  He said the location in the high school depends on audience size.
Upcoming meetings:  The next regular board meeting will be Thursday, June 11 at 7 p.m.
