Odessa-Montour meeting 12/11

Meeting:  The Odessa-Montour school board met Thursday, Dec. 11 for 25 minutes.

Attendance:  Christopher Scata and Damita Chamberlain were the only board members absent.  There were two members of the public present.

Action:  The board approved the bond resolution for the capital reconstruction project.  Superintendent Jim Frame said the public has shown a lot of support for the EXCEL project.

• A number of donations were accepted, including two trumpets from Vince Silsbee, and $5,500 from the O-M Wrestling Club and $1,500 from O-M Sports Boosters for the purchase of wrestling mats and to increase the budget by that much.

• The mileage reimbursement rate was changed to 55 cents per mile, recognized by the Internal Revenue Service.  The change is effective Jan. 1, 2009.

Discussion without action:  Frame gave his superintendent’s report on Gov. David Paterson’s letter to all the schools about budget cuts.  The letter said that no cuts will be made midyear, but all schools should look at a reduced budget for the next school year.  In preparation, Frame said the board is preparing three different levels of budgets, starting with no increase and going down to decreases in funds.

Bids/purchases over $1,000:  None.

Appointments/resignations:  None.

Upcoming meetings:  The next school board meeting will be Thursday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m.
