Odessa prepares for 'The Secret Garden'

ODESSA--The Odessa-Montour junior and senior high school will present the musical "The Secret Garden," this weekend at the school. There will be three performances, including one Friday, March 16, at 7 p.m. and two Saturday, March 17, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The cast of O-M students will play roles based on the classic children's story of the same name by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The original book dates back to 1911 and numerous adaptations have been made to bring the classic story to film, stage and other modern platforms.
The story follows Mary Lennox, a 10-year-old from India, who loses her wealthy parents and must travel to England to live with her uncle, Archibald Craven. The new location features a secret garden as well as other mysteries Mary tries to uncover. In the process, Mary meets Colin Craven, a homebound boy who also lives in the house, and through their time together he embarks on a recovery of his health. The story demonstrates the power of family and forgiveness.
The cast includes Molly Heichel as Mary Lennox, John Coates as Archibald Craven, Bronwyn Stermer as Lily, Hannah Rosier as Martha, Rhys Stermer as Dickon, Ben Campbell as Colin Craven, William Yeater as Neville Craven, Casey Underdown as Albert Lennox, Cheyenne Barrett as Rose Lennox, Jaylin Rumsey as Mrs. Medlock and Noah Brewster as Ben Weatherstaff. Additional cast members include Marisa Alton, Taylor Alton, Justin Andrews, Kaelyn Arnold, Shania Austin, Sarah Barr, Hannah Bruno, Tyler Carson, Gillian Clark, Karlee Dudgeon, Samantha Dudgeon, Dominick Elliott, Sara Gardner, Allison Heichel, Emily Holton, Hailey Hoose, Bailey Hornbrook, Taryn Hoyt, Emma Malnoske, Elisha Norton, Jordan Robinson, Nakiaha Robinson, Ida Sidle, Bea Silva, Maddy Vogel and Cheianne Webster.
Tickets are available at the door and are $5 for students and seniors or $8 for adults.
