Odessa presents 'Little Shop of Horrors'

ODESSA—A man-eating plant from outer space will be invading Odessa-Montour this Thursday to Saturday for the performances of “Little Shop of Horrors.”
The story takes place in Mr. Mushnik’s (junior Aaron Fisher) Skid Row Florist Shop, where the hapless Seymour Krelborn (senior Tyler Walruth, junior Jon Chapman) nurtures a strange, Venus flytrap-like plant. Mr. Mushnik’s other employee, Audrey (senior Amanda Williams, junior Morgan Stermer) is dating a dentist (freshman Manly Gavich, sophomore Tyler Goosen) who takes great pleasure in inflicting pain on his patients and girlfriend.
Seymour’s strange plant, which he names Audrey II, starts bringing in more business for the florist shop. However, he quickly learns the plant will only eat one thing: blood. As the plant grows, Seymour can no longer feed with the prick of a finger anymore. That is when the Audrey II reveals it can speak, among other things.
“Little Shop” also features a trio of “Doo wop” singers (senior Tomeesha Haller, sophomore Jenelle Bleiler, and freshman Dana Roberts) who act as a Greek Chorus, telling the story of the man-eating plant (senior Joseph Markley).
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m., March 15 to 17, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday. Tickets cost $6 for students and $8 for adults. “Little Shop” is presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International of NYC and is directed by Kim Laursen.
