Officials confirm measles case

ROCHESTER (AP)--Health officials in Monroe County say they have confirmed a case of measles in an unvaccinated toddler.
Public health department spokesman Ryan Horey said Thursday, Jan. 3 the child recently traveled out of the United States and likely contracted the disease outside of the country.
Health officials say they believe this is an isolated case, and the risk to the public in Monroe County is very low.
There have been multiple measles reports in New York in recent months, including an outbreak in Rockland County that has more than 100 confirmed cases as of Thursday.
Measles is a highly contagious disease. Symptoms include high fever, cough, rash and red, watery eyes.
