Orman says goodbye

PENN YAN—Ann Orman said her formal goodbye to Penn Yan on Thursday, Feb. 3.
At a reception in her honor, students, faculty, parents and community members flocked to the cafeteria at Penn Yan Academy to wish her well. Orman served as Superintendent of Schools in the Penn Yan Central School District for the past five years.
On February 4, her last day with the district, Orman shared some of her thoughts about her tenure with the local school district. Orman said one of the highest points during her time here was interaction with students and their reactions. She said, “I hope I had an impact on them.”
Another special point was seeing the renovation project come to fruition.  Work on a capital project for renovations and additions to Penn Yan Academy is nearly complete. Orman added, “I think morale and the climate in the district has improved. There has been a great deal of rebuilding of trust with the community.”
Shifting to her impending retirement, Orman said, “I came here to retire. I feel blessed to end my career here. This is a fond place in my heart. I hope they can continue to move in a positive direction. I hope the community continues to move with the district.”
As her last day moved toward the end, Orman said, “This has been a great ride. This is a great place to live and work.”
