Penn Yan Academy will host ballet May 16

PENN YAN--The Seneca School of Performing Arts in Dundee will be performing an original ballet called "You Are Special" at Penn Yan Academy Saturday, May 16. The play begins at 7 p.m. and will be in the academy auditorium.
School Founder Cheryl Siegfried said there will be some 50 performers at the ballet, with ages ranging from 3-year-olds to adults. According to Siegfried, the first half of the performances will feature class dances to show the progression of ballet from the younger ages to adults. The evening will also feature a vocal solo from one of the performers.
Siegfried said her students feature both local performers as well as some who travel from as far away as Buffalo and Pennsylvania and come at least three times a week. The group started formal rehearsals for "You Are Special" in March where she and her daughter, Mary Rosenberger, taught the choreography for the show.
Siegfried added the main performance, which is based on the book by Max Lucado, will run about an hour, with a 15 minute intermission. Tickets are $8 at the door.
