PENN YAN—The Mustangs' boys soccer team lost, Wednesday, Sept. 15, in a game that ended with only one goal. Marcus Whitman beat Penn Yan, by scoring the sole goal in the second half of the game. The Mustangs attempted 20 shots on the opponent's goal, to Marcus' 13. Penn Yan also had seven saves in the goal, and four corner kicks. "We had many more opportunities to win the game, but just couldn't find the back of the net on any of the 20 shots," said Coach Jon MacKerchar. "When you leave a team like Marcus Whitman in the game they gain confidence and keep working harder." The boys varsity soccer team plays next at Waterloo, Tuesday, Sept. 21.
