Penn Yan captures 23rd title

PITTSFORD--The Penn Yan boys varsity lacrosse team defeated Aquinas in the Section V Class D championship game, Wednesday, May 30. The victory brings the Mustangs to 23 Section V championship titles.
The final score Wednesday evening was 8-6, with Penn Yan recording five of the goals in the first quarter. They scored one goal in each of the remaining quarters to bring the total to eight.
Conner Fingar had two goals and two assists in the title game. Austin Blumbergs also had two goals, while Colton Smith, Devon Gerhardt, Dylan Stape and Ayden Mowry each had one. Smith also contributed an assist.
Goaltending, Jeff Kinyoun made 10 saves.
Fingar was named the All Tournament Most Valuable Player.
