PENN YAN—The Penn Yan boys and girls varsity cross country teams competed against Red Jacket, Mynderse, and Honeoye, Tuesday, Sept. 14. It was the Mustangs’ sole home meet of this cross country season, and was held at Keuka Lake State Park. The girls team beat two of the other schools, by getting the lower team scores. Against Mynderse, the girls won 25-36. Versus Honeoye, the girls won 27-31. The score against Red Jacket was 30-28, with Penn Yan losing. Penn Yan’s top girl runner was Carolyn Smith, coming in eighth place out of all the female runners, with a time of 23:22. In ninth place was Evelyn Pinneo, with 23:53. Natalie Wagaman was in tenth overall, with 24:08. In twelth place was Megan Lafferty, with 25:00. Right behind her were Stephanie Lee with 25:29, and Rachel Colaneri with 25:36. The Penn Yan boys also beat two of the other schools: Mynderse and Red Jacket. The scores against those two were 23-38 and 28-31 respectively. Against Honeoye, the boys lost 42-17. Alex Bodine led the Penn Yan boys with ninth place (20:31). Robert Jensen was in tenth with 20:41. In fourteenth place was Miles Snyder, with 21:23. Corey Rapp won eighteenth place overall with 21:47. Right behind him were Tyler Wauge (21:54) and Ben Falter (22:07).
