Penn Yan dominates Akron

ROCHESTER-Penn Yan's boys varsity lacrosse team topped Section VI Class C champion Akron in the Western Regional quarterfinals, 20-8, Saturday, May 30.
Penn Yan now faces Cazenovia in the Class C semifinals, Wednesday, June 3, at St. John Fisher.
Penn Yan held a commanding lead throughout the game, earning a 13-5 lead at halftime and keeping Akron scoreless in the third quarter. Austin Fingar led with seven goals and one assist. Craig Gerhardt recorded five goals and four assists for the Mustangs.
Sean Emerson had three goals and four assists, while Conner Fingar scored twice. Ben Covert, Casey Marsh and Tate Stewart each had one goal and one assist. In the goal, Gage Ponsetti had eight saves.
With the win, the Mustangs' record is 15-4.
