Penn Yan, Dundee wrestlers finish second

WAYLAND, SHORTSVILLEThe Penn Yan varsity wrestling team traveled to the Wayland-Cohocton Field House, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1 and 2 for the Section V Class BBB wrestling championship.
In the final matches, Derek Sisson (182) and John Martisch (220) each finished in second place. Sisson faced Joe Gorsuch of Newark for the first place title and lost 6-1. Martisch was paired with Zack Bacon in the final and fell 2-1.
Other wrestlers that placed for Penn Yan included: Courtney Lafler, fifth (99); Aaron Bodine, fifth (160); and Tyler Peacock, fourth (195).
Dundee also wrestled on Friday and Saturday, competing in the Class B championship held at Red Jacket High School. Lance Irwin (220) finished in second for the Scots facing Jacob Pomeroy of Fillmore in the last match. Irwin was pinned in 1:02.

Other finishers for Dundee included: Jayson Lovejoy, fifth (99); Paul Pollack, fifth (138); Dakota Hanes, fifth (160); Bradley Smith, fourth (195); and Vynce Miller, fifth (285).
Hammondsport attended the Class B championship and Richard Salisbury (182) finished in fourth place. He faced Tony Vanburen of Geneseo in the consolation final and fell in :43.
