PENN YAN—The Penn Yan girls varsity lacrosse team opened the season with a 14-2 win against Mynderse, Monday, March 28. Mynderse scored once per half. Coach Pat Queener said it was good to start the season with a win. She added this is an early opener, but it means they have more time to improve. The girls play twice more this week. Sam Steinert and Jen Burt both led with four goals and one assist. Christy Brennan had two goals and three assists. Natalie Wagaman and Cara Elias each had two goals. Kristen Thayer contributed one goal and Maddie Hill had two assists. In the goal, Meg Hopkins had nine saves. Steinert also led in draw controls.
