Penn Yan lacrosse advances to semifinal

BUFFALO–The Penn Yan boys lacrosse team advanced to the state semifinal game by winning, Saturday, May 31 against Akron (section six). The final score was 19-4. Penn Yan controlled the game, outscoring Akron 4-1 in the first quarter, 4-1 in the second, 6-0 in the third and 5-2 in the fourth.
Andrew Perl had seven goals in the game. Bradley Voigt and Craig Gerhardt each had three. Rion Davison recorded two, while Ben Covert, Austin Fingar, Sam Dirisio and Casey Marsh each had one.
Fingar also had five assists and Voigt and Covert both had three.
Brandon Maciejewski made 15 saves in the goal.
Penn Yan will now face Cazenovia (section three) in the state semifinal game Wednesday, June 4 at Cicero North-Syracuse high school. The Mustang's game is scheduled to start at 8:00 p.m.
