Into the Woods is a Tony Award-winning musical written by James Lapine with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim that premiered on Broadway in 1987. It is based on well known fairy tales and includes Cinderella (played by Abby Arnold), Little Red Riding Hood (Brittany Leiter), Rapunzel (Leah VanSon), Jack and the Beanstalk (J. J. Warren), and a new adventure about a baker (Jay Vollmer) and his wife (Hannah Hotaling) trying to lift a witch’s (Rachel Dillon) curse. Wunder said the play addresses what happens “after the happily ever after,” in these fairy tales as the characters from each cross paths in their adventures.
