Penn Yan school board 01/28/09

Meeting: Penn Yan Central School District board of education met Jan. 28.

Attendance: Board member Nancy Scher was excused and member Liz Warren was absent. No members of the public were in the audience.

Action: Approved the technology plan presented by Warren Kinsey, district Director of Technology.

• Accepted a donation from the Once Again Shoppe and Penn Yan Area Council of Churches in the amount $1,250. The funds were added to Health & Wellness supplies.

• A donation in the amount of $3,240 from the sophomore class jewelry sale was accepted.

• A change order in the amount of a decrease of $4,350 for Town Mechanical, Inc. was approved.

Discussion without action: Heard a report on the Ed2Go Partnership with Finger Lakes Community College presented by Assistant Superintendent for Instruction & Staff Development Howard Dennis. 

• Heard the first review of expenditure budget for General Support and Transportation. Custodial expenses will go down because there will be no utilities at the Branchport School building in the 2009-10 year. In the transportation budget regular bus rotation, four would have been replaced, but replacement of three was recommended.

Bids/Purchases over $1,000: None.

Appointments/Resignations: The resignation of Technology teacher Andrew Clouse was accepted, effective February 13.

Upcoming meetings: The next regular school board meeting scheduled for Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. in the elementary school cafeteria.
