Penn Yan school board 7/20/11

    Meeting: Penn Yan Central School District board of education met for approximately 15 minutes Wednesday, July 20.
    Attendance: Board members Jeff Morehouse and Renee Bloom were absent. there were no members of the public in the audience.
    Action: Approved an emergency resolution to withdraw funds from the Repair Reserve Fund. The sprinkler system in the middle school will be repaired before students return in September. It is anticipated the cost of the work will not exceed $35,000.
    • The district was authorized to undertake the necessary plans and specifications to install an emergency generator to serve the district office and bus garage facility. The estimated cost of $75,000 will be paid from maintenance line items in the 2011-12 school budget.
    • The board accepted a donation of $5,000 from LeChase Construction in memory of Lyle Corey. The funds will be used for bleachers.
    • The Alumnae and Community Member criteria for induction in the Penn Yan Academy Wall of Fame was approved.
    Discussion without action: Superintendent of Schools David Hamilton reported he has toured the facility and it is ready for the school year. Hamilton attended the recent Superintendent’s conference in Albany.
