Penn Yan woman dies in accident

SENECA—Penn Yan resident Angela L. Hoaglin, 36, of 120 Eagle Ln. died in a fatal motor vehicle accident near the town of Stanley Sunday, Feb. 9. Ontario County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the fatal accident at the intersection of Route 14A and Scoon Road in the town of Seneca.
Hoaglin was operating a 2001 Saturn and was traveling north on Route 14A when it was struck by a 2002 Chevrolet, operated by Christopher L. Christensen, 26, of 552 Scott Road, Penn Yan. Christensen had been eastbound on Scoon Road. The intersection is controlled by a stop sign located on Scoon Road for eastbound traffic.
Hoaglin suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Ontario County Coroner Kevin Hendersen. Christensen was not injured. The operators of both vehicles were wearing seat belts.
The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the Ontario County deputies completed accident reconstruction. Penn Yan Ambulance and Stanley-Hall Ambulance were on the scene. Hall Fire Department, Benton Fire department and Bellona Fire Department assisted on the scene. The cause of the accident remains under investigation with possible charges pending.
