Penn Yan woman dies in accident

DUNDEE--One Penn Yan woman is dead after a motor vehicle accident in the town of Starkey. Linda M. Potter, 72, of Penn Yan died at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester following an accident that occurred at 12:24 p.m. June 3 along Route 14.
According to a release by the Yates County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded along with Dundee fire and ambulance members to a two-car motor vehicle accident along Route 14 at Apple Road. The vehicle Potter was operating exited the east side of the roadway, entered a ditch, then continued traveling north, striking a parked vehicle located at 5005 Route 14.
Potter was transported from the scene by Dundee Ambulance to a landing zone where Mercy Flight transported her to Strong Memorial Hospital where she later died. Investigation is continuing to determine if her death was a result of a medical issue which may have also contributed to the accident, or if she succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident.
