Phone system will send alerts about parking

WATKINS GLEN—Odd/even parking will be enforced differently this season in Watkins Glen. The village will use the new CodeRed phone system to notify residents when odd/even parking will be in place. Only residents who have signed up with CodeRed will receive notification. Residents may sign up at www.watkinsglen.us.
From Nov. 1 through March 31,  odd/even parking will be enforced only during snow storms or anticipated snow storms. Residents will receive an automated call advising them of the dates odd/even parking will be in effect. During these dates, the police department will issue citations to anyone not parking on the proper side of the street.
On odd calendar days, vehicles must be parked on the side of the street numbered with odd numbers; on even days of the month, vehicles must be parked on the side numbered with even numbers. There will be a grace period from 6 p.m. to 7 am. the following day during which vehicles will be allowed to park on either side of the street. Streets that have no parking on one side and streets on the side hill are exempt. Residents and visitors are reminded that starting at 7 a.m. each day vehicles must be parked on the correct side of the street during the announced dates.
Even if an individual did not receive a CodeRed notification, they must still follow the odd/even parking schedule if the village has deemed it to be in effect.
