DUNDEE--Dundee Central School held the 79th annual graduation ceremony, Thursday, June 21 on the school's front lawn. Class leaders, advisors and administrators spoke to the large crowd of friends and family.
This year, Renee Wolverton was the valedictorian and Colin Howell and Joshua Kane were co-salutatorians.
"It has been an amazing year, full of memorial moments, such as homecoming, prom, and our trip to Cedar Point," said Wolverton. "We met teachers that empowered us and made friends that will last a lifetime. As we look back, we must look forward to what attitude we will have on life. The truth is life is beautiful but not always easy."
Co-Salutatorians, Howell and Kane joked throughout their combined speech of the luck and chance involved with them being tied for the position. The two are Dundee's first co-salutatorians in history.
"As we stand before you today, we have made many friends and have fond memories of this school," said Howell. "These memories are full of joy and also stress. But the stressful moments are what make those [times] of joy so happy."
Kane started, "Everyone should learn to laugh, love and learn some more." Howell finished the thought, "Or everyone should just learn to tolerate people who are not their favorite." Kane interjected, "Agh, you forget about our ninth grade year, what is that we always tell people?" Howell joked, "we disliked each other very strongly." The crowd laughed and applauded.
Dundee's Class of 2018 had 40 students.
