WATKINS GLEN–A rainy morning and mid-day caused some schedule changes at Watkins Glen International as the Cheez-It 355 at The Glen weekend kicked off, Friday, Aug. 9. The morning began with a visit from Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who announced a public service campaign urging Americans to not text and drive. He also took a few laps of The Glen in his Corvette. Practice sessions that were supposed to get underway at noon were not held until around 4 p.m. as track dryers attempted multiple times to dry the track after rain persisted in the afternoon. On Saturday, the racing will officially get under way with the Zippo 200 at The Glen at 2:30 p.m. The Sprint Cup race is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
