PHOTO GALLERY: Johannah Marchenese wins Miss Penn Yan at StarShine

PENN YAN--The village of Penn Yan held their annual holiday celebration, StarShine, Friday, Dec. 5 on Main Street. Along with holiday music and open houses by many of the stores downtown, there were also vendors along the street and horse drawn carriage rides. The arrival of Santa and the crowning of Miss Penn Yan concluded the activities.
Johannah Marchenese was named 2015 Miss Penn Yan, while Chelsi Thompson was first runner up and Ashley Gleason was second runner up.

1. MADISON ALESSI
The daughter of Mike and Jen Alessi, Madison is a 10th grader sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. Madison takes advanced math, science, and English classes while participating in the National Junior Honor Society. She plays softball and volunteers at the American Legion, while she also helped with flood relief.

2. STEPHANIE AYERS
The daughter of Rick and Tracey Ayers, Stephanie is an 11th grader sponsored by the Penn Yan Lions Club. Stephanie has been in Celebrate Yates for three years and 4-H for four years, she volunteers at the humane society and Penn Yan Nursing Home, and has also assisted with flood cleanup.

3. EMILY COON
The daughter of Jean and Patrick Coon, Emily is an 11th grader sponsored by the Yates County Deputy Sheriff's Association, Council 82. Emily is in the National Junior Honor Society and has been on the Superior Honor Roll every quarter since the sixth grade, while also volunteering at the Penn Yan Manor Nursing home for four consecutive summers culminating in being hired as a summer activities assistant.

4. ASHLEY GLEASON
The daughter of Steve and Stephanie Gleason, Ashley is an 11th grader sponsored by the Penn Yan Rotary Club. Ashley is a member of National Junior Honor Society, a participant in Science Olympiad, a member of the Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA), the Orchestra Council, plays softball and runs cross country.

5. MEGAN GUERERRI
The daughter of Scott and Nicole Guererri, Megan is an 11th grader sponsored by the Yates Cultural Recreational Resources, Inc. Megan plays volleyball and softball for Penn Yan Academy, plays tenor saxophone in the high school band and jazz band, while also serving as band vice president.

6. ARYNN HURLBURT
The daughter of Kelly Hurlburt, Arynn is an 11th grader sponsored by the Mason's-Milo Lodge #108. Arynn works and volunteers with multiple groups, including Interact, the Biomedical Club and the International Club, while she also was a participant in flood relief efforts.

7. JOHANNAH MARCHENESE
The daughter of Cindy Rapalee and Joe Marchenese, Johannah is a 10th grader sponsored by the Penn Yan Elks Club #1722. Johannah serves on the student council as a student representative, is involved in the Interact Club, the Penn Yan Lions Club, the United Methodist Church and was involved in the flood cleanup.

8. ELIZABETH MORGAN
The daughter of Deven Moore and Matthew Fritz, Elizabeth is a 10th grader sponsored by the Izaak Walton League. Elizabeth is a member of the JV lacrosse team, Future Farmers of America (FFA), Select Choir, and volunteered at the VA Hospital Hospice Unit in Canandaigua.

9. ASHLEY OWENS
The daughter of Shirley and Steven Owens, Ashley is an 11th grader sponsored by the Sampson Theater. Ashley is part of masterminds, student council, Science Olympiad and drama club, while also participating in backstage crew for shows, the National Junior Honor Society, Interact Club and is the class of 2015 treasurer.

10. CASSIDY PRATHER
The daughter of Sally and Keith Prather, Cassidy is a 10th grader sponsored by the Catholic Daughters of America. Her activities include basketball, soccer, lacrosse, helping little kids out during basketball Saturday mornings, working at the Flour Shop Saturday mornings and attending St. Michaels Church.

11. CHELSI THOMPSON
The daughter of Gary and Michele Thompson, Chelsi is a 10th grader sponsored by the Penn Yan Fire Department. Chelsi's activities include 4-H, Big Brother/Big Sister, volunteering at the Creative Dance Studio, Leo Club, Celebrate Service Celebrate Yates, Milly's Pantry, Salvation Army bell ringing and Penn Yan flood cleanup.

12. BRIENNA YONGE
The daughter of Christine and Lance Yonge, Brienna is an 11th grader sponsored by the Loyal Order of Moose 2030. Brienna's activities include varsity lacrosse, basketball and volleyball, Yates County 4-H, National Junior Honor Society, bell ringing for Christmas for the Needy and volunteering at Penn Yan Box Lacrosse.
