Planning group will submit proposals

WATKINS GLEN--The third public planning session for the $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative was held Wednesday, March 7 at the Clute Park Community Center.
Some 85 people attended to view maps of the downtown renovation area, see building renderings and to hear the consultant's comments about the projects.
The local planning committee scheduled a wrap-up meeting for Tuesday, March 13 and then will submit the work to the state by March 30. The state will review and announce the Watkins Glen funding decisions this summer.
The recommended projects to be submitted total $16,301,330. The state will choose projects from that list up to $10 million. (The list of recommended projects with funding numbers is published on page three). Both private funding and state funding will apply for most of the building projects. The initiatives include four categories: downtown living, culture and entertainment, economic development and quality of life.
