Planning meeting set for Yates

PENN YAN--Yates County Planning will meet Thursday, Dec. 12 for the third of three public workshops to develop an update for the county's comprehensive plan.
County Planner Daniel Long said the December workshop will focus on the ag community's farms and related businesses. The meeting will be held in the Yates County Auditorium, 417 Liberty St. in Penn Yan at 6 p.m.
After the workshop, the county will begin compiling the data and survey information from residents to help draft a new edition of the Yates comprehensive plan.
The resident survey can be picked up at the Yates County Planning Department, 417 Liberty St., Penn Yan, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The survey is also available from the county's website at www.yatescounty.org and clicking on the link for the planning department.
Some of the key survey questions include the following: basic census questions including residency, age range, land ownership and uses, outdoor recreation preferences, what you like best about the county, how you feel about county services, your biggest concerns about the county and what things would you change in Yates?
Completed surveys need to filled out and returned to the county by Jan. 30, 2020.
