Players present 'We The People'

WATKINS GLEN—The Lake Country Players are celebrating American freedom and the Constitution with a new musical.
The production is called “We The People” and features patriotic songs.  It will be performed at the Watkins Glen high school auditorium, Thursday to Saturday.
The story revolves around a group of people discussing about how to organize a patriotic show for their town.  The committee then examines the Preamble to the Constitution and decides to use that as the framework for the show.
Everyday life is showcased in different segments, offering a variety of moods as it explores the deeper meanings of the language of the Constitution. Scenes range from two neighbors arguing their constitutional rights to have crab grass, to an immigrant singing about coming to America.
Director Michelle Banach said the program will end with audience participation as the players sing each hymn representing the branches of the Armed Forces.  She added the Watkins Glen VFW will let the group borrow the branch flags to set up on stage during the performances.
The times are 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, with a 2 p.m. performance on Saturday, June 9.  Tickets cost $7 for adults, $5 for students/seniors/veterans, and children under age four are free.
