Police arrest 25 at Crestwood location

SCHUYLER COUNTY--In the past week, 25 people have been arrested while blockading the Crestwood compressor station along Route 14 in Schuyler County. Following protests at the site Friday, Oct. 24, continued efforts to block traffic from entering or exiting the site resulted in 10 arrests Wednesday, Oct. 29 and an additional 15 arrests Monday, Nov. 3. The Oct. 24 protest coincided with the date the Federal Energy regulatory Commission (FERC) said construction could begin on the methane portion of Crestwood's gas storage project at the site along Seneca Lake. The protests are conducted under the name "We are Seneca Lake," which seek to stop the expansion of methane gas storage, a separate project from Crestwood's proposed Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) storage project, which is on hold pending a Department of Environmental Conservation Issues Conference.
Those who were arrested Wednesday included Patricia Heckert, Roland Micklem, Jeanne Judson, Patrick Judson, Chuck Geisler, Nancy Kasper, Colleen Boland, Catherine Rossiter, Sandra Steingraber and Dwain Wilder. Seven were arrested at the north gate, blockading a truck, and charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing. Three were arrested at the south gate and charged with trespassing. All have been released and were scheduled to appear in court Wednesday, Nov. 5.
The 15 additional protesters arrested Monday include Lyn Gerry, John Dennis, Mariah Plumlee, Bob Henrie, Laura Salamandra, Elan Shapiro, Lindsay Clark, Darlene Bordwell, Jodi Dean, Ruth Young, Paul Passavant, Stephanie Redmond, Joanne Cipolla Dennis, Martha Ferger and Kenneth Fogarty.
