Police will limit odd/even parking enforcement

WATKINS GLEN—The Watkins Glen Police Department will not enforce the odd/even parking law this winter unless there is a snowstorm.
Sergeant Steven Decker said the superintendent of streets will decide when the parking law is enforced.  Decker added in the past it has usually been with three inches of snow or more.  He said the public will be alerted through the electronic CodeRED system.
Decker explained the alert will go out the day before if the storm is expected, but could happen with less warning.  He said currently, 978 people are signed up for CodeRED.
According to the village, the odd/even parking law is: on odd calendar days, vehicles must be parked on the odd numbered houses side of the street.  On even days, vehicles must be parked on even numbered houses side.  Streets with no parking on one side and streets on the side hill are exempt from the parking law.  Decker added many people usually follow odd/even parking anyways.
