PENN YAN—The village of Penn Yan board of trustees scheduled a February informational meeting regarding the development of the former Penn Yan Marine site during their regular meeting Tuesday, Jan. 21. Mayor Bob Church said the meeting is scheduled for the board’s next regular meeting Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. in the village hall.
“This is a big deal,” Church said. “It is still not finalized. We are hoping to have something finalized by the February meeting.”
Church said the village is working on a three-way deal with Yates County and developer Chris Iversen in regards to the development of a housing complex at the site. Residents who are interested in learning more about the details of the agreement are encouraged to attend next month’s meeting. Church said the goal is to get the waterfront development going and back on the tax rolls. He said anyone with questions can contact him or one of the village trustees. He added he will have “general information,” as nothing is final yet.
In other news:
• The board voted to override the state’s 2 percent tax cap during the meeting. There was a public hearing for the local law, during which no one spoke.
• The board agreed to keep one of two signs that read “Keuka Lake 1 Mile,” while donating another one to the Yates County History Center.
