Report: Dundee company gets purchase offer

DUNDEE—A food production company is looking to buy the Dundee Foods facility owned by LiDestri Foods.
Finger Lakes Economic Development Vice President of Community Development Ryan Hallings explained he was not able to name the company looking to buy Dundee Foods, but described it as “a large food processing company.” He added the business approached the FLEDC about a month and a half ago looking to expand. Hallings added it was his agency that got the company in contact with LiDestri Foods.
He said he knows the two companies have been working with each other. However, he said at this point he doesn’t know if LiDestri has accepted a contract to sell the Dundee location. He added he knows LiDestri did send a contract back to the unnamed company.
Hallings did say the food company would not be processing the same products as LiDestri. LiDestri Food and Beverage makes sauces, dips, salsas, beverages, soups, condiments, and cooking wines. The food production company has manufacturing locations in Fairport and Rochester, as well is in California and New Jersey.
Starting last year, production at Dundee Foods was moved to Rochester. Dundee was kept as a distribution center. Plant Manager Joe Ferrigno previously said of the 40 people employed in Dundee, 10 relocated to the Rochester office and nine were employed in Dundee to handle distribution. Hallings said if this new company buys the location, it could result in about 50 new jobs.
