Route 14 repairs will cause delays

MONTOUR FALLS--Traffic is impacted on State Route 14 between Watkins Glen and Montour Falls due to road construction that started this week.
The project, funded by the state and performed by Silverline Construction of Burdett, involves the replacement of two culverts and the repair of two others, followed by repaving. The work is scheduled to take place Mondays through Saturdays and expected to be complete by the end of June.
Michael Griffin, a regional assistant design engineer from the Department of Transportation, explained that the route would be reduced to a single lane with a stoplight, but they hope to keep delays to a minimum and have the project done by the end of the school year.
