Schools hold ceremonies for 2015-16 athletes

Dundee, Penn Yan, Hammondsport and Odessa-Montour recognized athletes from the 2015-16 sports seasons during ceremonies last week. The award winners are as follows:
Dundee honors success
The Dundee Central School District held its annual sports awards ceremony Wednesday, June 8, in the school gymnasium. During the ceremony, staff and faculty recognized the achievements of its student athletes throughout the year. Tayler Morrison was named the winner of the Dundee Female Athlete Award during the evening, while Ryan Sprague was named the top male athlete by winning the David Summerson Male Athlete Award.
The Keith Cagle Award for football and baseball went to Talon Wright. Sprague was named the recipient of the Dale Howell Award for football, while Jeffrey Denmark received the Ray Fultz Award, also for football.
Sprague was also recognized for his basketball prowess this past season by earning the Richard Kendall Award. In wrestling, Jayson Lovejoy was honored with the Skorusa Award, as well as the Half-Century Award for amassing 58 wins.
Morrison took home the Bolvig Female Award for track, while Geordan Conyers received the Bolvig Male Award. Conyers was also honored for setting the school long jump record (21'2.5"). Morrison was also recognized for setting the record for most goals scored in a season in soccer with 26 goals.
The district's Most Valuable Players in each sport were Emily Oughterson (girls track), Pollyanna Dean (winter cheerleading), Morrison (girls soccer), Kayla Marusarz (fall cheerleading), Bobby Strait (baseball), Caitlyn Cornish (girls bowling), Xavia Miller (softball), Paige Easling (volleyball), Ryan Goodman (boys bowling), Austin Thompson (football), Damon Empson (wrestling), Strait (boys basketball) and Lovejoy (boys track).

Penn Yan holds annual awards program
Penn Yan Academy held the 50th annual sports awards program, Monday, June 13. Teams presented Varsity Club/Girls Athletic Association Awards along with Heart Awards. There were also individual awards which included: Matt Harer Memorial Sportsmanship Award, Pam Fingar; Shirley Trombley Spirit Award, Craig Gerhardt; Stork Insurance Agency Sportsmanship Award, Tyler Keech and Gage Ponsetti; Kyle Hopkins Outstanding Teammate Award, Kelly Bray; Ken Johnson Sports Award, Tanner Irwin; Fred Marshall, Jr. Legion Award, Ashley Owens; U.S. Army Scholar Athlete Award, Brie Yonge and Jacob Hoover; Girls Coaches' Trophy, Brie Yonge; Boys Coaches' Trophy, Sean Emerson and Austin Fingar.

Hammondsport athletes take home awards
HAMMONDSPORT--The Hammondsport Central School district recognized the achievements of the 2015-16 athletes at an award ceremony Wednesday, June 1. The award recipients include (athlete, sport, award):
Fall Season: Tanessa Whitney, volleyball, most valuable player (MVP); Trehana Hoad, volleyball, offensive MVP; Shanea Campbell, volleyball, defensive MVP; Lani Carvajal, soccer, offensive player of the year; Alexis Salisbury, soccer, defensive player of the year; Cody Kolo, soccer, MVP; Jared Raab, cross country, most outstanding male runner.
Winter Season: Cody Kolo, basketball, most outstanding post player; Ethan Bower, basketball, most outstanding guard; Emily Eckel, basketball, MVP; Tea Flynn, basketball, most improved player; Alliyah Jensen, cheerleading, most improved cheerleader; Alexis Salisbury, cheerleading, cheer leadership.
Spring Season: Jordon Thompson, baseball, Milt VonHagn dedication to sport and team; Emily Davis, softball, most outstanding player; Tea Flynn, softball, most improved player; Cameron McConnell, golf, most outstanding golfer; Parker Watson, golf, most outstanding golfer; Matthew Cole, golf, most improved golfer; Jared Raab, track, most outstanding distance runner; Ethan Bower, track, most outstanding sprints and field; Emma Caravati, track, most outstanding track and field athlete; Lexi Salisbury, track, leadership award.
Senior Letter Awards: Dylan Storrs, 10; Shanea Campbell, 10; Alexis Salisbury, 12; Ethan Bower, 12.
Laker athlete award for outstanding athletic achievement: Ethan Bower and Alexis Salisbury.
Patricia Bielby award for outstanding athletic and scholastic achievement: Helena Carvajal.

Odessa-Montour celebrates athletes
Athletes from Odessa-Montour were recognized at the annual Sports Boosters Banquet, Thursday, June 9 in the Fetter-Brown auditorium. Awards for each sport were presented for outstanding contribution and commitment to the team. The Harold Lynch Athlete of the Year Awards were presented to April Dunn and Bryce Elliott. The Charles Martin Memorial Sportsmanship Awards were given to Tyler Clark and Madison Lodge.
