Schuyler party candidates file for the primary

SCHUYLER COUNTY—Republican, Conservative, and Democratic candidates for town and county positions have filed to run in the upcoming Sept. 10 primary and Nov. 5 general elections.
Independent candidates have between Aug. 13 and 20 to file petitions.  There will be a primary election for two legislative seats, two Tyrone board members, Dix supervisor, and Cayuta highway superintendent.  Polls will be open Sept. 10 from noon to 9 p.m.
As part of the redistricting plan, four new legislative districts will be decided in the general election.  All legislative seats are for four year terms.
The party candidates are as follows:
Schuyler County
Incumbents District Attorney Joseph Fazzary (Republican, Conservative), Sheriff William Yessman Jr. (R,C), Clerk Linda Compton (R,C), and Coroner James Coleman III (R,C) are currently running unopposed.
Legislative District 1
There is one seat open representing Catharine and Cayuta with three candidates.  Incumbents Barbara Halpin and Glenn Larison are both seeking the Republican nomination for this new district seat in the primary election.  Halpin has also filed and will be on the November ballot as a Conservative.  Michael Burns is running as Democrat.
Legislative District 2
There is one seat representing Hector with two candidates.  Van A. Harp (R,C) and Shirley Barton (Democrat) will be on the November ballot.
Legislative District 3
Two candidates are running for the other open seat representing Hector.  John White (R,C) and Michael Lausell (D) will be on the November ballot.
Legislative District 4
Three candidates are running for the one seat representing Hector and Montour.  James Howell and Thomas Gifford are seeking the Republican nomination in September.  Howell has also filed as Conservative.  Paul Cartwright will be on the November ballot as Democrat.
Catharine
No one has filed for the Catharine supervisor seat yet.  Wayne Chapman (R) and Glenn Bleiler (R) are seeking election to two board seats.  Carmella Hoffman (R) will be on the ballot for clerk/tax collector.
Cayuta
Two Republican candidates are running for the highway superintendent position: incumbent Thomas Beach and Todd LaRow.  Steven Brown (R) will be on the ballot for one of two open town council seats, as well as Angela Knapp (R) for clerk.  No one has filed for the supervisor seat yet.
Dix
Incumbent Howard Russell (R) and Scott Yaw (R) are both running for the Dix supervisor position.  There are two open council seats.  The candidates are Craig Gardner (R) and F. Joe Hammond (R).  Richard Richtmyer (R) is running for highway superintendent and James McMahon (R) is seeking election as clerk.
Hector
There are four town council seats in Hector with three candidates currently.  Incumbents Michael Bergen (R) and Alvin White (R) are running alongside Beverly Morley (R).  Dale Jaynes (R) is seeking election as justice.  Jane Ike (R) will be on the general ballot for clerk.
Montour
The two incumbents have filed to run for two Montour council seats: Lester Cady (R) and Bart Besley (R).  David Scott (R) is running for supervisor.  Donald Spaccio will be on the November ballot for justice.
Orange
In the town of Orange, Susan Allen (R) and Matthew O’Dell (R) are running for two open board seats.  Incumbents Highway Superintendent Darold DeCamp (R), Supervisor Jocelyn Harrison (R), and Clerk/Tax Collector Joanne Randall (R) filed petitions unopposed.  Dale Partridge (R) is running for justice.
Reading
There are two open town council seats in Reading.  Incumbents Patrick Gill (R) and Beverly Stamp (R) are seeking reelection.  Highway Superintendent Martin Roberts (R) is currently running unopposed.  Incumbent John Norman Jr. (R) will also be on the November ballot for town justice.
Tyrone
Three Republican candidates are running for two open board seats.  Incumbents Pamela Grimmke and Edward Perry Sr. will be on the September primary ballot with newcomer Christopher Bason.  William Kennedy (R) is seeking reelection as justice.
