Schuyler will hold memorial service Friday

SCHUYLER COUNTY--Schuyler officials will conduct a memorial service Friday, Oct. 13 to honor the four county employees who were killed Oct. 15, 1992 while working at the county office building. Friday marks 25 years since the fatal shootings occurred. The legislature will remember and celebrate the lives of Florence Pike, Phyllis Caslin, Nancy Wheeler and Denise VanAmburg. County Legislator Phil Barnes said, "These four outstanding employees, who were taken from their families, friends and co-workers, are recognized for the valuable work they did on behalf of the children and families of this county."
Barnes said a public memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. in front of the Schuyler County Court House by the gazebo that was erected by county employees in honor of the fallen staffers. Speakers will be retired Schuyler County Sheriff Michael J. Maloney and New York State Senator Thomas O'Mara. Refreshments will be furnished by the Schuyler County Deputy Sheriff's Association and the Schuyler County CSEA.
