Scots are undefeated with 34-19 win

DUNDEE—The Dundee Scots won the Class D division of the Finger Lakes West championship and shares the Class DD/D championship with Clyde-Savannah. The Scots beat South Seneca, Saturday afternoon, Oct. 10, 34-19.
The Scots scored 27 unanswered points in the first two and a half quarters of the game at Scotsmen Field. It was not until late in the third quarter that South Seneca scored on a pass play, recovered the ensuing onside kick, and scored again on the same basic play, that the game was even remotely contested.
Coach Sheldon Gobson stated, “We had to try different things, going into playoffs. Other teams know what our weapons are, but we have other dangerous weapons in our arsenal of talent. And we really needed to shore up our defense. We cannot have any lapses next week when sectionals start.”
Three of South Seneca’s first four first-downs were from penalties on Dundee’s defense.  Ryan Ballard scored first for the Scots on a 32-yard run. The kick failed so the score was 6-0. Steven Webb scored the second touchdown of the game on a 13-yard run. Ballard ran the conversion for a 14-0 lead.
Quarterback Tommy Pratt scored the Scots’ third touchdown in the second quarter on a two-yard quarterback keeper. Katie Zebrowski kicked the extra point. The score was 21-0. Webb scored the fourth touchdown after halftime on a 61-yard catch and run play. The kick failed and the score was 27-0. Webb scored Dundee’s final touchdown on a 20-yard run. Zebrowski’s kick was good. The score was 34-7.
Webb had 11 rushes for 137 yards and two touchdowns, and one reception for 61 yards and one touchdown. Pratt completed 10 of 15 passes for 137 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Defensively, the Scots had five interceptions---Joe Tortolon had two, and Kyle Spinks, Dustyn Thompson and Cody Gilbert each had one. The Scots had 373 yards of offense.
The Scots are ranked #2 in New York State Class D. Webb was named the Ontario Honda Section V, Class D Offensive Player of the Week, last week. They will have a quarter-finals game at Scotsmen Field, Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m., against #8 seed Bolivar-Richburg.

The Dundee girls soccer team lost to Romulus, 3-2, Oct. 9. Danielle Morgan and  Samantha Clingerman each had goals for the Scots. Colleen Fiorella had nine saves in goal. The Dundee girls have a record of 2-10.
The Dundee boys soccer team lost to Honeoye, 9-1, Oct. 6. Jake Wilmott had the Scots’ only goal. Owen Maloy had seven saves in goal. Shea Maloy also had seven saves. The girls team also lost to South Seneca, 2-0, Oct. 5. Fiorella had 14 saves.
