Senecas fall in memorial tournament

WATKINS GLEN—The Watkins Glen boys soccer team made it to the championship game of the GLM Memorial Soccer Tournament, Saturday, Sept. 20, and lost to Trumansburg, 3-2.
Watkins Glen’s Ian Anderson scored the first goal during the first quarter. Austin Stephany assisted. The other Seneca goal during that game was also scored by Stephany and assisted by Andrew Malaney. Alec Moore had five saves.
This was the first year of the tournament, which was to remember three Watkins soccer players who died in a car accident, May 4, 2003. The students were Kyle Gregory, Brennan Love, and Seth Marcellus. Proceeds from the games will go towards the projects of the GLM Foundation.
Both Trumansburg and Watkins Glen made it to the championship game after defeating their own opponents in the first round of games Friday. On the first day of the tournament, Watkins beat Notre Dame, 3-0. Trumansburg beat Moravia, 5-1.
Moravia and Note Dame played in the consolation game Saturday. Notre Dame won, 2-0.
