Senecas fall to Waverly, 4-1

WATKINS GLENThe Watkins Glen girls varsity soccer team fell to Waverly, 4-1, in an away game, Tuesday, Sept. 21.
The Senecas’ sole goal game from Angela Keough, at 25:53.  The shot resulted from a penalty kick due to a handball in the box.  When Watkins scored, the girls tied the game at 1-1, but Waverly managed three more goals.
Watkins Glen had a total of three shots on the opponent’s goal, to Waverly’s 17.  Watkins also had one corner kick, and 13 saves.
"We were flat tonight. We were not stepping to the ball and were too impatient once we received the ball,” said Coach Travis Durfee.  "Our girls are fighting colds and lagging injuries. We need this bye week to rest and recover. We have had a tough run with four games in the last week and a half."
The girls play next at Elmira Free Academy, Saturday, Sept. 25.
