Senecas finish basketball season second in the state

TROY--The Watkins Glen girls varsity basketball team fell to Cambridge, 57-43, in the New York state Class C championship, Saturday, March 16, at Hudson Valley Community College.
Danielle Leszyk and Adrienna Solomon both scored 11 points for Watkins. Taylor Kelly earned 10 points. Hannah Morse netted nine points, while Kelsey Kernan added two.
"We had a very successful season and I am very proud of my girls and coaching staff," said Coach Alicia Learn. "The girls played hard and worked even harder to get where we got."
The Senecas end the season with a 21-5 overall record.
Leszyk and Morse were selected for all-tournament honors after the game.
Watkins' girls defeated Millbrook in the state semifinals the day previously, Friday, March 15. The final score was 53-42.
Kelly netted 18 points, including three three-point shots and two rebounds. Leszyk posted 17 points, also with a trio of three-point shots, two rebounds, and two assists. Kernan added eight points, with three rebounds and two steals.
Morse earned four points, 11 assists, seven rebounds, and three steals. Solomon also had four points, four rebounds, and two blocks. Jena Slater scored two points with six rebounds.
