Sheriff, police arrest four on drug charges

YATES COUNTY—Four Penn Yan residents were arraigned in court, Friday, Jan. 14, on various counts of the criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance.
According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Department, Justin S. Woodruff, 22, 1584 Outlet Road, and Trevor J. Spoor, 21, 122 E. Main St., were both charged with the same offense: two counts each of selling a controlled substance in the third degree and possession of a controlled substance in the third degree. The sheriff’s report said that Amanda N. Fultz, 24, 1584 Outlet Road, was charged with three counts each of selling a controlled substance in the third degree and possession of a controlled substance in the third degree.
Penn Yan police said Tyler D. Spoor, 20, 122 E. Main St., was also arraigned Jan. 14 in county court for two counts each of selling a controlled substance in the third degree and possession of a controlled substance. He was committed to jail on $5,000 cash bail to reappear. The report said he was suspected of selling heroin in Penn Yan last fall.
Investigators explained the sheriff’s department worked with the Rochester Police Department after determining some Yates County residents had been traveling to Rochester in recent months to buy beroin. The report said the drug was then resold in Yates County. Authorities said Woodruff and Trevor J. Spoor were arrested Wednesday, Jan. 12, as a result of the investigation while Fultz was already in jail on other charges.
The investigation continues and the sheriff’s department expects there will be more arrests.
