Snow storm is 'biggest in three years'

TRI-COUNTY AREA—The Finger Lakes region has not had a storm this big since Valentines Day, 2007.
Dave Nicosia, hydrometeorologist technician for the National Weather Service in Binghamton, said this week's storm is the "biggest in three years."  In Yates County as of Friday morning, Feb. 26, Penn Yan reported 13 inches of snow since the storm started, Thursday morning.  Montour Falls and Bath reported a slightly smaller number, with 11 inches from the storm thus far.
Due to the snow, schools and government offices were closed Friday across the region.  The Yates County Sheriff issued a travel advisory Thursday evening, after the 911 Dispatch started receiving calls about slippery road conditions.
